Rod leads the OpenWiz.org project.

One of the things he found disappointing about Topfield TAP development was that whilst some developers did release source code, the actual development and testing of most of that code was done in isolation and behind closed doors.

In the spirit of true open source development, and to make sure that less-than-optimal situation doesn't happen again by default, he has set up the OpenWiz.org project.

Rod also leads the NSLU2-Linux project, and is involved in a number of other open source projects.
